Portefeuille de Edward A Lawrence Prisoner of War. Portefeuille en cuir marron vide. Deux photos récentes. Edward A Lawrence SGT 1st Squad 1st Platoon CO M 424th Inf 106th Div. Le Sergent Lawrence du 424th Infanterie de la 106th Division a été fait prisonnier durant la bataille des Ardennes le 16 décembre 1944. Il a été interné dans les Stalag XII B, III B, et IIIA. Un an après son retour aux USA, il eut la surprise de recevoir du Département d’Etat le portefeuille qu’il avait perdu lors de la bataille. On y joint une photo, une lettre de lawrence et l’enveloppe d’envoi de ce portefeuille à l’historien W C. Cavanaugh. Cette pièce a été donnée par le vétéran à l’historien anglo belge William C Cavanaugh qui était un spécialiste reconnu de la bataille des Ardennes et dont les publications font références dans le domaine. Intéressant souvenir historique provenant directement du vétéran et comportant son histoire, replaçant cet objet dans le contexte de celle ci. Il est de la plus haute rareté de pouvoir récupérer des objets pouvant être replacé dans le contexte des évènements qu’ils ont subis A noter une certaine usure et patine de la pièce. Etat II+. Sergeant Lawrence of the 424th Infantry, 106th Division, was captured during the Battle of the Bulge on December 16, 1944. He was interned in Stalag XII B, III B, and IIIA. One year after his return to the USA, he was surprised to receive the wallet he had lost during the battle, sent to him by the State Department. Included with the wallet are a photograph, a letter from Lawrence, and the envelope in which the wallet was sent to historian W.C. Cavanaugh. This piece was given to the historian by the veteran himself. William C. Cavanaugh, a renowned Anglo-Belgian historian and specialist in the Battle of the Bulge, whose publications are considered authoritative in the field. An interesting historical artifact directly linked to the veteran’s personal story, providing context for the item within the events it endured. It is extremely rare to recover objects that can be placed back in the context of the events they were part of. Notable wear and patina on the piece. Condition II+.
